Drammen is located 40 kilometers west of Oslo. Drammen has more than 64,000 inhabitants, but the city serves as a regional centre for an area with a population of about 150,000.
The city of Drammen was founded in 1811 as the two towns of Strømsø and Bragernes were united. The city shield was originally created in 1715. It says ”In fide et justitia fortitudo” (From faith and justice comes strength).
The total area of Drammen is 145.2 square kilometres, including 9.5 square kilometres of lakes and rivers, 15.8 square kilometres of farming land and 89.9 square kilometres of forest.
Drammen is a city of diversity and 20 percent of the population have immigrant background, a fact which leaves its colorful mark on the cityscape.

Langesund offers a perfect blend of active days, hiking along the coastal path, island hopping, bike rides, and lazy days on one of the many beaches. Cyclists flock to the city for an ice cream break on the pier as a natural highlight. At Bamble municipality, with no less than three bicycle clubs, we are looking forward to a fast-paced finish in the sprint leg of the Tour of Norway on Thursday May 21.
