We welcome Tour of Norway 2015 to the river city of Drammen. Drammen offers an excellent salmon river with pleasure cruising, nice beaches and idyllic sea fronts. A many- sided cultural life with the most beautiful theatre building in Norway. A prize- winning main square with lively street life. Walking trails in almost unspoiled nature and a great panoramic view from the Spiral Top.
Drammen is located 40 kilometers west of Oslo. Drammen has more than 64,000 inhabitants, but the city serves as a regional centre for an area with a population of about 150,000.
The city of Drammen was founded in 1811 as the two towns of Strømsø and Bragernes were united. The city shield was originally created in 1715. It says ”In fide et justitia fortitudo” (From faith and justice comes strength).
The total area of Drammen is 145.2 square kilometres, including 9.5 square kilometres of lakes and rivers, 15.8 square kilometres of farming land and 89.9 square kilometres of forest.
Drammen is a city of diversity and 20 percent of the population have immigrant background, a fact which leaves its colorful mark on the cityscape.
The Drammen region offers an abundant package of experiences within comfortable distances. Here you will find an exciting combination of both urban and green experiences. Do it all on the same day − or even on the same afternoon. You will be astonished at everything that we have to offer.
Try combining a city trip in dynamic Drammen with a wilderness expedition, or a round of golf in a picturesque cultural landscape. Or you can take a chance on a ravine expedition or high ski jumps on the slopes.
Lakes, rivers and a long coastline with 286 kilometres of river- and waterfronts await you, with swimming, sailing, fishing and other exciting water activities.
The central location of the Drammen region and its accessibility make it easy for you to come visit.
Welcome to Langesund, a coastal gem at the edge of the Telemark coast. With the most sunny days a year, Langesund is an established tourist resort, bustling with life and a number of festivals throughout the summer, such as Fishing Festival, Garden Festival, Shanty Festival and the International Youth Film Festival, to name a few. The well-known outdoor stage Wrightegaarden is a rallying point, frequently visited by major international and Norwegian stars. Langesund is popular with boaters and our guest piers are frequently visited. Langesund offers a perfect blend of active days, hiking along the coastal path, island hopping, bike rides, and lazy days on one of the many beaches. Cyclists flock to the city for an ice cream break on the pier as a natural highlight. At Bamble municipality, with no less than three bicycle clubs, we are looking forward to a fast-paced finish in the sprinters stage of the Tour of Norway on Wednesday May 18.
